Superhero Team-up

23 Jul

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder announced at San Diego Comic-Con that there will be another Superman movie and the Man of Steel will be joined by Batman. It’s the first time ever the pair will team-up on the big screen. For those who aren’t familiar with the Batman and Superman comic book/cartoon dynamic – the characters have similar morals, but rarely see eye to eye. The combination should be interesting and I think their relationship will resemble Iron Man and Captain America’s in Marvel’s Avengers.

Both Henry Cavill and Amy Adams will reprise their roles as Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane. The big question now is who will play Batman? Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer was originally cast as Batman in the 2007 failed Justice League project and he’s in the running again for the role. The fan favorite is Joseph Gordon-Levitt who did a pretty awesome job in The Dark Knight Rises.  Some Screen Rant suggests are Richard Armitage or Luke Evans.

I think Gordon-Levitt is the best choice considering his role in the last Batman movie and even though Christopher Nolan isn’t directing the new Superman movies, he’s producing them.

Who else do you think would make a good Batman?

Trailer – The Wolf of Wall Street

23 Jun

Directed by Martin Scorsese, The Wolf of Wall Street stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort, the real uber-rich stockbroker enjoying the finer things in life.  The movie is based Belfort’s memoir of the same name.

The Wolf of Wall Street will be the 5th collaboration between DiCaprio and Scorsese.  The film also starts Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey.

Is it just me or is DiCaprio looking younger these days?

Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms Terminator 5

14 Jun

Terminator 5 will begin shooting in January 2014 and Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that he’ll be the Terminator once again.

Arnold said to TheArnoldFans.com – “I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star as the Terminator.”

Paramount Pictures will take over film distribution from Warner Bros., who distributed Terminator Salvation.

Dreams Come True – Keira Knightley Joins the Cast of The Imitation Game

12 Jun

Keira Knightley is joining Benedict Cumberbatch  for the upcoming Turing Biopic The Imitation Game.

Cumberbatch stars as code breaking math genius Alan Turing.  The film examines Turing’s role in breaking the enigma code and also details his treatment after revealing he was gay in 1952.

Knightley will play Joan Clarke, the woman who was briefly engaged to Turing.

Knightley and Cumberbatch previously starred together in the World War 2 drama, Atonement.

I love Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley is my number one girl crush.  Honestly, who’s better in a costume drama? Nobody.

The Imitation Game is scheduled for release in 2015.

Trailer – The Hobbit – The Desolation of Smaug

11 Jun

Remember how yesterday I said that I didn’t care much for The Hobbit...perhaps I changed my mind.  Parts of the new Desolation of Smaug trailer made me giddy like a schoolgirl.

Tom Hardy Will Star in The Outsider

11 Jun

Tom Hardy will be starring in The Outsider, a film by Japanese director Takashi Miike (Sukiyaki Western Djano, Ichi The Killer).

According to Deadline Hollywood, “It’s an epic story set in post-World War II Japan, chronicling the life of a former American G.I. who becomes part of the Japanese yakuza.”

Miike directs a bit of everything, but is mainly known for his gruesome and bizarre films, i.e., Ichi the Killer, Imprint…etc.  Many of his films have been heavily edited for North American audiences so it’ll be interesting to see how this goes.

New Hobbit Poster

10 Jun

Check out the cool new poster for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

I wasn’t a big fan of The Hobbit – it was way too long and splitting the book into three movies is a huge and obvious money grab.  I’m not really looking forward to the movie, but I do want to see Martin Freeman’s Bilbo interact with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Smaug.  It’s a Sherlock reunion.
